Spinal Cord Injuries
Spinal cord injuries can come from many different mechanisms, including car and motorcycle crashes, bicycle and pedestrian injuries, construction site injuries, falls, assaults and countless other ways. If you have been involved in an injury and you are suffering from shooting pain, numbness, weakness, tingling, or any other type of odd sensation in your arms or legs, you should immediately be checked out by a medical professional. Spinal injuries can be due to many different sources. The spinal cord can be pinched or a nerve root can be pinched after a trauma. You should not ignore these symptoms, even if they are a minor inconvenience. They could be a sign that you have a nerve root injury or some other injury. Often these injuries can be treated with physical therapy, chiropractic, massage therapy, injections and anti-inflammatories, just to name a few. Other times the only treatment is surgery. However, there is a risk that if you do not obtain treatment, the nerve could suffer an ongoing irritation to the point where it becomes a permanent painful problem, even if the nerve is relieved by surgery. Therefore, please do not ignore these types of injuries and consult with a medical professional.
